Ministry for the Environment

The Ministry for the Environment (MfE) provides policy advice, works with other agencies and stakeholders to improve environmental outcomes, and compiles and disseminates information on a wide range of environmental matters. It has about 260 staff and an annual budget of around $40 million. The Ministry has a Wellington-based head office and regional offices located in Auckland and Christchurch.

Ministry staff will give you general assistance free of cost. Most of the Ministry's publications are also available free of cost.
