Environment Court
The Environment Court hears and decides on a wide range of matters under the RMA. The Court currently consists of 12 Environment Court Judges (of whom five are alternate) and 21 Environment Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners. Hearings are usually presided over by one Judge and two Commissioners. The Court has registries in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch and holds sittings throughout the country as required.

What costs are involved?
Lodging proceedings incurs a filing fee. This is currently $500.00 (including GST) for filing an appeal. The filing fee is $55.00 for commencing any other proceedings.
