Designations
A designation is a provision in a district plan for a public work or project. Only a requiring authority can give notice of a requirement for a designation. Designations enable public-type projects to be carried out effectively as if they were authorised by a rule in the relevant district plan. Designations also restrict activities which are inconsistent with the designated work thereby preserving the land for the future works.
